Anti wrinkle Consultation
Anti-wrinkle Consultation
The drug used for anti-wrinkle injections is a neurotoxin protein and when administered by injection in controlled amounts, can be used for both medical and cosmetic purposes. By inhibiting nerve signals, it temporarily relaxes targeted muscles reducing the appearance of dynamic lines, such as frown and eye lines caused by repetitive muscle movements. This can provide facial rejuvenation for a more youthful appearance.
What is this treatment suitable for?
Popular areas treated include the forehead, around the eyes and frown lines, as well as other areas that can be treated. Anti-wrinkle injections work on dynamic lines and wrinkles, which are ones that appear on muscle movement. Any lines that are present on no movement are known as static lines and there is no guarantee of improvement with these, although overtime it may possibly help lines soften due to slowing the movement that caused them.
What does the procedure involve?
After an initial prescriber consultation, a typical procedure appointment involves checking over medical history and forms, taking before photographs for medical records, assessing facial muscles and movements, the injection procedure and going through aftercare. Anti-wrinkle injections are administered using small fine needles. The number of injections required depends on the specific area and desired results, with the injection procedure taking 10–15 minutes to complete.
The medication takes up to 14 days to reach its optimum effect, which will be explained in more detail during a consultation.
How long does it last for?
The effects of the medication are not permanent and are only temporary. It can last on average 3-4 months depending on many circumstances, such as metabolism and over this time gradually wears off as movement returns. Maintenance frequency is individual to each client, with some being satisfied having it done as long as every 5-6 months. It is not a one-size-fits-all rule and may also depend on other things such budget.
